Become a Volunteer Walk Leader
We are looking for adventurous women & non-binary people to become Body Positive hike/walk leaders
Do you believe every BODY should get to experience the outdoors regardless of their size, how slow or unfit they are?
Are you body positive, empathetic and non-judgemental?
Do you want to encourage and inspire women and non-binary people to connect to the outdoors, and to other likeminded people?
Can you offer to lead walks 1-2 times a month?
Then we would love you to consider becoming an Escaping Your Comfort Zone Volunteer Leader!
The Role
The role of the Volunteer Leader (Crew) is to organise hikes and events for Escaping Your Comfort Zone, and support EYCZ members and followers in person and online.
Unlike other bushwalking clubs, there is no expectation that volunteer leaders will have hike leadership or navigation experience. The majority of EYCZ hikes occur in well signposted, easily accessible areas, including rail trails, nature reserves and lake circuit walks, are less than 6kms in length, and on easy trails. We do expect that you are able to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our participants
FUN FACT: Most of our leaders have started with our group as participants. Maybe this is something you have considered?
Leaders will gain more confidence and more experience as they lead more hikes, and there will be the possibility of navigation and advanced hike leadership training. There is also the opportunity for leaders to be accompanied by highly experienced hike leaders from other bushwalking clubs to expand the hike capacity of EYCZ leaders.
We do, however, welcome leaders with more extensive hiking and navigation experience, to extend the range of hikes we can offer our participants.
