As outdoor educators, you play a powerful role in shaping who feels welcome in nature, and who doesn’t. While many programs aim to be inclusive, plus-size participants often face unique, invisible barriers that are rarely considered in planning, language, group dynamics, and gear.

My aim is to share practical insights and often-overlooked considerations to help you create truly welcoming experiences for adventurers of all body sizes. Some of these may challenge assumptions, but that’s where real inclusion starts.

Let’s move beyond “everyone is welcome” and into everyone feels they belong.
